I believe sexual offenders should be castrated, upon second offense. In their first conviction, they should be sentenced to mandatory therapy and imprisoned while under treatment, the amount of time they should serve should be determined by their therapist and how well they do in treatment. After treatment they should be placed on parole for at least one year to ensure they are safe to be in public.

because every offender is similarly dangerous and the crime the same...

(I don't condone what the dipshit did there, but he IS a sex offender!)

oh, just to spell it out for newfags:
everyone purposefully injuring or killing a child (or any person for that matter) must be punished severely.
however, there is no black or white (ethically speaking, not skin colour)

on topic:
if he was the killer he seems to have some serious mental issues and needs to be locked away forever.
but apart from his retarded excuse that she tried to seduce him, this has nothing to do with sexual crime (the autopsy didn't suggest intercourse) .
as I see it, on the contrary. one might argue(and it might be his feeble attempt at defense) that he was so offended by her vile attempt to turn him into a paedophile that he had to kill her.

Actually, castration would help lower their sex drive, if they are a sexual danger to society, this could help to reduce that risk, along with mental help that they would need to help control themselves and not commit such crimes. Simply locking them up is not enough, it does not resolve the issue. It simply serves as a deterrent.

disregarding the ethical implications of forcing anyone to be castrated, I understand your point for attackers, rapists and murderers who under different and similar ethical points are (most certainly against their own will) incarcerated or even legally murdered by some governments.

but as I said, there are way too many, way too different and even non violent(physically AND mentally) reasons to become a "sex offender"

a one term fits all draconian punishment as you demand is simply wrong.

I don't even think that the public sex offenders list is a good idea. probably why not many countries have it.

also you speak of men and, like most, disregard female offenders with your cry for castration.

You do realize women can be castrated as well, don't you?

Also, where exactly did I state anything referring only to males?

yeah, I thought as much:
http://oxforddictionaries.com/definition/english/castrate

castrate:
remove the testicles of (a male animal or man).
deprive of power, vitality, or vigour:a restrictive classicism would have castrated England’s literature

noun

a man or male animal whose testicles have been removed: young human castrates, or eunuchs

use sterilization instead, works for both genders.

Are you really that ignorant? Wow, you should really educate yourself more... much more.

Sterilization may prevent pregnancy but does not necessarily reduce sex drive. What would work better is reducing the testosterone and other sexual hormones, or balancing them better to stabilize or reduce sexual drive. Which is what castration in both genders would help to accomplish, reduced sex drive.

BTW, dictionary definitions are not official definitions, they are the definitions that the specific dictionary defines them as, not necessarily a definitive definition.

what are you talking about?
be more thankful if someone presents you knowledge so that you won't embarrass yourself in the future.
or are you referring to my arguments 2 or so posts ago?

either way, your response is that of a child without arguments to contribute to the discussion.

ah, I see you changed your post...

I'm not a doctor, jim, but I believe reducing testosterone in women will not lead to reducing their sexdrive...

however I think, that sterilizing a female won't necessarily reduce that evil sexdrive.

there are hormone treatments, sexual offenders undergo in cases.

yes, lexica and dictionaries ARE the official sources for definitions.
you might have slight difference in wording(considering english for instance is spoken in different countries as an official language) but they should not diverge from one another much.

Anonymous B replied with this 11 months ago, 14 minutes later, 2 weeks after the original post#27,489

Testosterone is a hormone in both men and women and it does effect the sex drive of both genders. That was just one, which I mentioned. There are of course several other hormones which effect the sex drive in men and women.

Anyway, stabilizing the sex drive of any sexual offender male or female should be part of their sentencing, to help reduce the risk of repeat offenses, which is my point.

your point was (usually) irreversible castration, something very different!

Anonymous B replied with this 11 months ago, 45 minutes later, 2 weeks after the original post#27,493

And? It would help keep society in order more effectively than current policies. It's not about what's right or wrong ethically, since not every society government defines ethics, such as the U.S. where this story takes place. It's about how to effectively enforce the laws in place and prevent crime.

no it wouldn't.

> It's not about what's right or wrong ethically...
in a free, democratic society it should be.

> It's about how to effectively enforce the laws in place and prevent crime.
laws are not enforced by castrating people "branded" as "sex offenders"
the US has the death penalty and it doesn't decrease/prevent crime either.
(on the contrary, many executed prisoners later turned out to be wrongfully convicted,so the government/society ultimately committed a crime by murdering them)
castration is another usually irrevocable punishment

you can't throw a child rapist into the same pot as the 18 years old teenager who has sex with his 17 years old highschool sweetheart and castrate them both for being a danger to society and order!!

you have to differentiate and punish according to the crime/offense, not some arbitrary label.

as I mentioned before, I share the view that rapists and murderers, especially with multiple offenses should be locked away forever or a very long time with additional conditions afterwards because those indeed ARE a danger to society.

A teacher having a consenting affair with his 16 year old student or adult brothers and sisters having a consenting incestous relationship hardly are,yet they end up in the same sexual offenders list.
just like the idiot in my example earlier.
he sends a naked pic of his ex around and gets charged with child pornography and is in the sexual offenders list.
castrate the demon predetor!

@previous

> That's why I said on the second conviction, not first.

I'm not talking about the amount of convictions.
I'm talking about severity of the crime!

someone who merely touches people or exposes himself for the kick is a sex offender, yet not such a danger that it is applicable to lock away forever and/or castrate!!

plus, capital punishment (castration equates in some way) is neither a deterrent nor a suitable punishment for a civilized society.

Anonymous B replied with this 11 months ago, 1 hour later, 2 weeks after the original post#27,501

Right. I agree with you, the severity should be taking into consideration of course. A 20 year at a party who fucks a 16 year old does not deserve the same punishment as a 46 year who molests several children.
